Cinnamon Cordial

Ingredients
2 Quarts Rum
1 Ounce Cardamom Seed
1 Ounce Lemon Peel
1 Ounce Orange Peel
1 Pennyweight Cinnamon Oil (cassia lignea)
1-2 Pounds Sugar
Water

Instructions:
Take a pennyweight of oil of cassia lignea, dissolved with sugar and rum; half a gallon cardamom seed, husked; orange and lemon peel, each one ounce. Sweeten with white sugar, exceeding not two pounds, and make up two gallon measure with the water in which the sugar is dissolved.
 
Notes:
Combine the cinnamon oil with a small amount of sugar and muddle (or kill, as they stated in the 1800's). Add the high proof rum. 1 Pennyweight is equivalent to 1.5 grams
