Instructions: Infuse in the brandy, for one month, skirret, caraway, daucus, mace and cinnamon. Distill the whole in a water bath, having drawn off 6 quarts. Return it to cohobate into the alembic. On obtaining this second distillation, about 5 quarts of spirit, remove the heat. Compose a strong syrup of saffron, water and sugar and boil until thick as oil. When it has cooled pour the spirit in the syrup. Combine thoroughly.
Notes:
History Oil of Venus has been mention in historical documents as far back as the mid 1700's, along with Spirit of Adonis and Parfait Amour. Generally regarded as a fine cordial that women enjoyed.
