Soluble Flavouring Extract
This is a flavouring mixture that is used to add complexity to other mixtures like soda syrups and elixirs. The benefit of a pre-made flavouring extract is the reduced time and effort to make other ingredients.
Soluble Flavouring Extract
- Oil of Sweet Orange
- 4 oz
- Oil of Cassia
- 2 tsp
- Oil of Coriander
- 2 tsp
- Oil of Cloves
- 2 tsp
- Oil of Nutmeg
- 1 tsp
- Carbonate of Magnesium
- 4 oz
- Alcohol 90%
- 2 qt
- Distilled Water
- 2 qt
Instructions:
Mix the oils with the alcohol and the carbonate of magnesium with the water; then gradually add the mixture of magnesium and water to the solutions of oils. Allow to stand a few days, or longer, with occasional agitation, pour off the clear liquid, pour the precipitate onto a filter, and filter the poured off liquid through the precipitate and filter until perfectly clear.
