Product Description
Arrack is the distillate of coconut palm sap. The sap is collected from the flowers of coconut palms, fermented in the field and then sent to a centralized collection point where it is graded and distilled. It is then aged and bottled.
There are a number of different types of arrack, and after some research this doesn't seem to be Batavia Arrack, but because it is aged a fair bit, may still be. More research required.
Label Text
The connoisseur’s favourite. A superior blend of pure single and double distilled coconut spirits specially refined and well matured. VSOA is the epitome of high quality coconut arrack.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Deep golden brown
Aroma:
Coconut, vanilla and chocolate. Some of the aromas are hard to place because of the uniqueness of this spirit. It comes across as vegetal to me. As the arrack opens up, after a few minutes in the glass, there is a strong chocolate aroma, like coco puffs
Palate:
Round in the mouth with a rum-ish like flavour, but sweeter and smoother. The coconut and vanilla flavours are present. The finish has a slight woody bitterness, that isn’t unpleasant.
Notes:
This Arrack is similar to rum but wouldn't make a perfect substitute for it. In discussions with other spirit and cocktail enthusiasts, this product is probably not best for making Swedish Punsch.
Serving Suggestions :
On the rocks for something different or in cocktail that traditionally use rum.
