Product Description
Becherovka is a Czech bitter, much like other European bitters like Unicum, Amaro's and Jagermeister.
Label Text
A delicious spirit with a unique taste coming from the heart of Europe. Becherovka has been produced since 1807 in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) from a secret mixture of herbs and spices. Traditionally consumed neat, cooled to below 6°C for refreshment. Becherovka is excellent mixed with tonic water or with other soft drinks. Becherovka - the original taste from the heart of Europe
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Light yellow / straw colour. Thin, not viscous in the glass.
Aroma:
Strong christmas spice aromas. Cloves, cinnamon, anise. More spicy than herbal. Very pleasant though.
Palate:
Flavourwise it starts of sweet with the cinnamon and spice, then slowly moves to the clove and bitter finish. The bitterness is light and pleasant. The is some alcohol heat.
Notes:
Best served chilled with some ice. Also a good bitter to introduce people to if they have an aversion to bitters.
Serving Suggestions :
If I were to pick only one European bitter to use in cocktails, Becherovka may very well be the one. It isn't exceptionally sweet, which makes it easy to work with. It also has a very good aroma which is a key to any good cocktail.
