Product Description
This is the second from the top reserve whisky from Crown Royal. The newly released Crown Royal XR is the top of the line spirit. But, the Special Reserve is a fine whisky that doesn't have an apparent age statement. But like other Crown Royal products, they usually don't. The standard Crown Royal is a 10 year old whisky, so it would be safe to assume that the Special Reserve is a few years older. It comes in a very elegant bottle.
Label Text
The jewel in the Crown, Crown Royal Special Reserve is a whisky of such exceptional quality that its rich smooth taste brings special moments to life.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Deep golden brown
Aroma:
Very smooth with aromas of oak and rye.
Palate:
Again, very smooth with a slightly sweet oak flavour followed by some spiciness and vanilla and toffee notes. The finis is tongue tingling and long.
Notes:
This is a very well made whisky that stays true to form for Crown Royal. Its flavour is well balanced with some sweetness and some spice, but isn't overpowering or weak and flabby. Let's say its just right.
Serving Suggestions :
Being a fine reserve whisky means this is best served on its own. But if money isn't an issue a fine Manhattan or other whisky cocktail might be a great choice. Probably not best with Coke or Ginger Ale.
