Product Description
Maraschino liqueur is a very old product dating back to about 1821, well at least that's when the Luxardo family began producing it. It is distilled from Marasca Cherries creating an eaux-de-vie. Luxardo Maraschino is aged for two years in vats of Finnish ash wood. At some point it sweetened heavily.
Label Text
Maraschino is made according to the original recipe in the possession of the Luxardo family, since 1821. Delicious on fruit-salads, strawberries, raspberries and kiwi.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Water white, but pours like a thin syrup. A good indicator o
Aroma:
It has a strong spirit base with a fruity aroma similar to fermented fruits. Not particularly cherry flavoured.
Palate:
Very sweet with an interesting flavour that is fruity and has an amaretto-ish flavour. It finishes long and sugary with a bit of heat
Notes:
Luxardo Maraschino is one of those products that works best as a component of a cocktail. It is a bit too sweet to drink straight. The aroma and flavour is unique and should not be confused with cherry brandy or Kirsch.
Serving Suggestions :
Best know as a component of classic cocktails like the Martinez, Aviation and the Fancy Free Cocktail. If you look through older bar guides Maraschino is called for in a surprising number of cocktails.
