Product Description
This VS grade cognac is lightly flavour with natural vanilla. This cognac was released before Navan (Grand Marnier) was released on the market. The Meukow Vanilla Cognac is much more delicate and not as sweet when compared to Navan. The cognac aromas are very much present and it doesn't have the "cream soda" aroma that Navan does.
Label Text
Meukow VS Vanilla is the subtle and unique blend of Meukow Cognac and natural vanilla flavours.
This successful marriage shows how vanilla, which is yet naturally present in the cognac after it has been aging in oak wood barrels for a long time can create a new sensation when it becomes dominant.
The aromas harmony shows the perfect balance in between the Cognac - Long and Delicate - and the Vanilla - Silky and Powerful - delivering a sinfully irresistible and seductively smooth taste. Awarded BRANDS OF THE YEAR 2003 by Drinks International Magazine.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Pale straw colour.
Aroma:
Sweet vanilla with a cognac background. Some acidic aromas from the grapes. Delicate and perfume like.
Palate:
A smooth entry of sweet vanilla leads to a pleasant acid alcohol flavour that balances out the sweetness beautifully. Nice finish with oak notes and a pleasant astringency.
Notes:
When comparing this against a product like Navan, the Meukow Vanilla Cognac is definitely more sophisticated and balanced. Navan is very sweet with lots of vanilla, where as the Meukow is balanced with the vanilla playing a complimentary role to the cognac.
Serving Suggestions :
This is a perfect digestif, served straight or over ice. If served straight, chilling it slightly helps to keep the vanilla flavours at bay. It can be used in cocktails, but might be a bit expensive.
