Fix The Pumps Amsterdam!

If you happen to be residing in Europe, or loitering around the area on vacation or other such adventure, there is a little event happening in Amsterdam on August 23rd at Vesper. Philip Duff has offered to host this intimate soiree and introduce attendees to some lost drinks and interesting soda fountain ingredients from the book Fix the Pumps. Philip has provided all the entertaining details below.

Fix the Pumps Amsterdam
19th Century Non-Alcoholic Cocktails and The Missing Link In Mixology

Based on the superb book by Darcy O’Neil, a free (you heard us!) un-sponsored (gasp!) un-branded (swoon!) seminar on the forgotten history of the Soda Fountain, it’s role in mixology, how cocktails went from morning to evening drinks, and the mystery of where all those American bartenders went when Prohibition was announced.
Includes unique tastings of cocktails not made for a century with ingredients like Acid Phosphate and Lactart.

Plus, Andrew has learned one (1) new word in Dutch, Timo will tell us what it’s like to make cocktails for ten-year-olds and Philip will drink a non-alcoholic cocktail – on purpose, in public – for the first time since 1991.

How To Attend
Max. 20 or so people, because Vesper is, er, snug. First come, first served.

Entry is free to attractive women*.

Everyone else has to have bought a copy of Darcy’s excellent book, which you can do via Amazon ($12 print version) or the ebook version ($8) here: Fix the Pumps
($8 eBook for your fancy new iPad, you insufferable tosser).

When you get a payment confirmation from Amazon/artofdrink.com,forward it to philip@liquidsolutions.org with the subject “;I Am Not An Attractive Woman”, on or before Friday 20th of August. Philip will email you back a confirmation, and you can toodle along on the 23rd.

* This was Darcy O’Neil’s explicit instruction. So if you think you’re hot hot hot (and – important this – a woman) please email a full-body photo (swimsuit preferred but not essential) to dsoneil@gmail.com on or before Friday, and if he agrees, he’ll send you an inappropriate email. Print it out and bring it along on the 23rd.
