Tincture Amara

Tincture Amara Recipe:
- Gentian
- 3 oz
- Serpentaria
- 2 oz
- Bitter Orange Peel
- 2 oz
- Red Saunders
- 1 oz
- Calamus
- 0 oz
- Cardamom
- 0 oz
- Alcohol (25%)
- 4 litre
Instructions
Reduce the solids to a moderately fine powder and extract with the alcohol for 2 to 3 days, agitating occassionaly. The red saunders may be omitted and the liquid coloured with caramel or carmine.

This recipe is was given by Dr. Stoughton in the Codex Medicamentarius.
